Walter L. Groener

Walter L. Groener (* 1930 in Berlin ) is a former German ambassador .

Life

From June 3, 1953 Groener was cultural attaché in Bogotá . In 1962, Groener became an economics officer at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Santiago de Chile . In 1963 Groener was awarded the Carl Anwandter Medal in Chile.

1968 to 1970 Groener was the ambassador of the Central African Empire . When Jean-Bédel Bokassa was persuaded to recognize the second German state in 1970, Groener was dismissed as a consequence of the Hallstein Doctrine and transferred to Mexico .

Walter Groener was from August 4, 1971 the representative of the Consul General in Rio de Janeiro . In 1975, Foreign Minister Azeredo da Silveira awarded him the Order of the Southern Cross .

Groener was Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Luanda until November 11, 1975 (proclamation of the People's Republic of Angola by Agostinho Neto ) .

In 1982 Groener became the new ambassador to Paraguay .
