Walter Sauer (educational scientist)

Walter Sauer (born December 29, 1939 in Reutlingen ) is a German professor of educational science , editor, publisher and graphics collector. He was very active in the youth movement.

Life

Walter Sauer grew up in Reutlingen. After graduating from high school in 1960, he studied at the Pedagogical Institute in Esslingen and was an elementary school teacher from 1962 to 1964. In 1964 he started a second degree at the University of Tuebingen in education, philosophy, psychology, biology and anthropology and was from 1969 to 1972 Assistant Professor at the Pedagogical Institute of the University of Tuebingen. After receiving his doctorate , he was a lecturer in 1972 and from 1977 professor for educational science at the Reutlingen University of Education; from 1987 to 2003 Sauer taught at the Ludwigsburg University of Education .

Sauer came into contact with the youth movement in a YMCA youth in 1953 . From 1958 he had contacts with supra-union circles at Waldeck Castle . Since then he carries the drive name Wasa. In 1959/60 he founded the Evangelical Youth Association Horte , whose federal leader he remained for fourteen years. From 1966 he was significantly involved in the expansion of the Allenspacher Hof on the Swabian Alb into a federal center. Sauer is considered to be the initiator of the 6th general meeting on the Allenspacher Hof, which took place at Whitsun 1977. From 1983 to 1987 he was the editor of Eisbrecher magazine at Südmarkverlag Fritsch .

From 1980, Sauer worked in collaboration with Dietmar Lauermann and Prof. Dr. Alfred Schmid Foundation co-founder and editor of the series Die Graue Edition . At the beginning of the 1980s he started working as a freelancer in the editorial team of Scheidewege and has been its editor since 2000, and is also the managing director of the Max Himmelhub Foundation. He is one of the co-founders and long-term employees of the Bündische Akademie Lüdersburg , is a member of the board of directors of Nerother Wandervogel and of the board of trustees of the cross-union Wandervogel Foundation.

Sauer has written numerous publications on topics related to the youth movement, education, art and literature. He owns a collection of contemporary prints. He lives in Reutlingen, has been married since 1969 and has two children.
