Walter Schäfer (theologian)

Walter Schäfer (born March 16, 1903 in Essen , † July 18, 1979 in Verden (Aller) ) was a Protestant clergyman and superintendent in Verden and an author.

Life

Schäfer studied Protestant theology in Marburg and Göttingen , where he was ordained on March 28, 1928 . In 1922 he became active in Marburg and in 1924 in Göttingen Wingolf . He took up his first position in the same year as pastor in Gesundbrunnen at Hofgeismar and study inspector at the local seminary there. In 1931 he became state youth pastor of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck . From 1934 he also headed the office of the State Association for Inner Mission in Kurhessen-Waldeck. In 1936 he was appointed pastor of the men's organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Braunschweig . In 1939 he became pastor in Osnabrück , in 1960 pastor and superintendent in Verden. On April 1, 1971, he retired.
