Walter Szołtysek
Walter Wilhelm Scholtyssek , originally Szołtysek , (born August 3, 1942 in Bielschowitz near Zabrze , German Empire ) is a former Polish weightlifter .
He won many championships in Eastern Europe in the 1960s and 1970s. At the 1969 World Championships he won bronze in the flyweight division . In Columbus ( USA ) he became vice world champion at the 1970 world championships . However, he was tested positive during the doping control and disqualified. He also became vice European champion in the former Leningrad ( URS ). He was supposed to take part in the Olympic Games in Mexico in 1968 and Munich in 1972 , but could not compete for health reasons. He ended his career in the early 1970s.
Szołtysek has lived in Germany since the 1980s ; he worked as a master painter until he retired.
