Walter Theodor Winkler

Walter Theodor Winkler (* 1914 ; † 1984 ) was a German psychiatrist and doctor .

Life

Winkler studied under Friedrich Mauz , did his doctorate under Ernst Kretschmer and later qualified as a professor. In the 1960s he was head of the Gütersloh State Hospital (today Westphalian Clinic for Psychiatry , Psychosomatics and Neurology ), Chairman of the General Medical Society for Psychotherapy (AÄGP) (1969–1973) and a member of the Psychiatry Enquête Commission that published the report in 1975 on the situation of psychiatry in the Federal Republic of Germany . In 1978 he was awarded the Hermann Simon Prize .
