Walter Trockel

Walter Trockel (born March 18, 1944 in Essen ) is a German economic theorist .

Walter Trockel studied in Münster and Bonn the subjects mathematics , physics and economics . In 1971 he received his diploma in mathematics in Bonn, where he was awarded the title of Dr. rer. pole. awarded. After working as a research assistant at the University of Bonn and a grant from the German Research Foundation (DFG) , he completed his habilitation in 1983.

In 1985 he received a professorship at the Institute for Mathematical Economic Research at Bielefeld University as the successor to the later Nobel Prize winner Reinhard Selten ; since 2002 he has been director of this institute.

His research areas include general equilibrium theory , Nash equilibrium , game theory and decision theory . He has published numerous articles in various international journals in his research areas.

Walter Trockel has been married since 1970, has four sons and lives in Oerlinghausen - Lipperzeile .
