Walter Trout
Walter Cooper Trout (born March 6, 1951 in Ocean City , New Jersey ) is an American composer , guitarist and singer . His music is a synthesis of blues and rock ( blues rock ).
Career
Since 1968 Walter Trout played with various bands and musicians, for example from 1979 to 1980 with the legendary blues musician John Lee Hooker . From 1980 to 1984 Trout was a member of the band Canned Heat before joining John Mayall from 1984 to 1989 .
In 1989 Trout founded the "Walter Trout Band", which was renamed from 1999 to "Walter Trout and the Radicals". In 2008 the band consisted of the following musicians: Walter Trout (guitar, vocals), Sammy Avila (keyboards), Michael Leasure (drums) and Rick Knapp (bass). In the summer of 2005, Rick Knapp replaced the previous bassist James Trapp, who died on August 24, 2005 of complications from heart disease at the age of 52. Andrew Elt, actually the band's tour manager, is the fifth member of the band since the Relentless tour. He was occasionally heard live as a background singer for Trout, but now he has also appeared as a solo singer alongside him. Walter Trout goes on tour with his band fairly regularly and also played a European tour in 2013. As part of the autumn tour he gave numerous concerts in Switzerland, Germany, England, France, the Netherlands and Italy ( Steinegg Live ). His tribute album Luther’s Blues was also released in 2013 - a homage to Luther Allison .
Walter Trout always introduces young, talented up-and-coming guitarists in the opening act of his concerts, such as Ian Parker, Steve Fister, Danny Bryant, Henrik Freischlader and Scott McKeon.
Because of a liver disease that cannot be treated with medication, he had been in the intensive care unit of a special clinic in Nebraska since March 2014 and received a new liver on May 26, 2014. A large-scale fundraiser had funded the operation as it was not covered by Trout's insurance.
Walter Trout survived the transplant and is on tour again, also in Europe in autumn 2015.
