Walter Wallberg (born March 24, 2000 ) is a Swedish freestyle skier . He starts in the moguls disciplines, contained moguls and dual moguls.
Career
Wallberg grew up in Bollnäs and learned to ski at the age of two. He started in Krispl in January 2015 in the European Cup for the first time and finished 26th and 7th. At the Junior World Championships 2015 in Chiesa in Valmalenco he was 28th in the Moguls and 11th in the Dual Moguls. On December 12th he made his debut in Ruka in the World Cup . In the further course of the season he won four out of eleven European Cup appearances. In addition, he was twice second and twice third and thus won the Moguls discipline of the European Cup. In April 2016, he won the silver medal in the Moguls competition at the Junior World Championships in Åre and took sixth place in the Dual Moguls.
After a cautious start to the 2016/17 season , Wallberg achieved his first top 10 placement in the World Cup in mid-January 2017 with fifth place in the Moguls in Lake Placid . At the following World Cup in Val Saint-Côme , he came on the podium for the first time with third place in the Moguls competition. In April 2017 he became Swedish champion in the Dual Moguls, at the Junior World Championships 2017 in Chiesa in Valmalenco he was sixth in the Moguls and fourth in the Dual Moguls. The FIS named him Rookie of the Year . In the following year he won 21st place in the Moguls competition at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and won the gold medal in the Dual Moguls at the Junior World Championships in Duved . He was also the Swedish Moguls and Dual Moguls champions in Bygsiljum . After third place in the Moguls in Ruka at the beginning of the 2018/19 season, he came second in Calgary and Lake Placid and third in Shymbulak , reaching eighth place in the overall World Cup and fourth place in the Moguls World Cup. At the season highlight, the Freestyle Skiing World Championships 2019 in Park City , he came ninth in the Moguls and fourth in the Dual Moguls. At the end of March 2019 he was again the Swedish champion in the Dual Moguls in Kungsberget . In the 2019/20 season he finished with two third places and one second place, seventh place in the Moguls World Cup.
