Walter Weisbecker (born November 24, 1915 in Frankfurt am Main ; † September 17, 1996 in Frankfurt am Main) was a German dialect poet , author , writer and publicist .

Life

Walter Weisbecker was born on November 24th, 1915 as the son of an editor of the Frankfurter Zeitung and the Kleine Presse , the local paper in the Frankfurter Societätsverlag .

Weisbecker united in his person the characteristics of the biographer , publicist and dialect poet at the same time. At first he worked successfully as a textile wholesaler, but gave up the business in 1970 to devote himself entirely to his musical talents.

He wrote more than 100 essays as a freelancer for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and the Abendpost night edition with the main topics: Goethe time, city history and glosses. His lectures and recitation matinees on the biographies and poems of Goethe , Hölderlin , Rainer Maria Rilke , Friedrich Stoltze and Adolf Stoltze and others aroused public interest and recognition.

His public appearances included u. a. Readings and lectures from Goethe's time and the Goethe milieu for the friends of Frankfurt and for the Free German Hochstift at various venues, including the Fritz Rémond Theater , the Volkstheater Frankfurt , the Kurhaus Bad Homburg and the Büsingpalais Offenbach / M. He produced numerous dialect recitations and gave interviews on Hessischer Rundfunk .
