Walter de Vries

Walter Timo de Vries (born June 6, 1965 ) is a Dutch geodesist . He has been Professor of Land Management and Land Development at the Technical University of Munich since 2015 .

Life

De Vries studied geodesy from 1983 to 1988 at the Technical University of Delft . He worked in developing countries in the field of land management , mainly in cooperation with the national authorities and universities. In 1989, for example, he worked on a land reclamation project in Indonesia . From 1992 he worked for the United Nations Institute for Training and Research in Geneva until 1994 as program director for Geographic Information Management programs to the ITC Enschede changed that later became a faculty of University of Twente was. From 2008 to 2013 de Vries studied public administration at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and then did his doctorate . In 2015, he was offered a position at the Technical University of Munich, where he received the professorship for land management and land development.

Walter de Vries is married and has two children.
