Walther Georg Ehrbar
Walther Georg Ehrbar (born January 13, 1884 in Herisau ; † August 9, 1960 there ) was a Swiss graphic artist and painter .
Life
Like his father Emil Ehrbar (1858–1941), Walther Ehrbar learned the trade of textile designer . After training in St. Gallen , he continued his education in Paris and New York from 1905 to 1910 . He then worked as a freelance textile designer in St. Gallen and Teufen until 1930 , where he lived from 1922. In 1924 he married Luise Katharina Stahl (1904–1948) from Munich .
Because of the crisis in the textile industry in eastern Switzerland , Ehrbar shifted his activities to the design of advertising posters after 1930 . In addition, he was also artistically active. Most of his paintings , drawings and linocuts show landscapes from his Appenzell homeland.
