Walther Soyka (born June 1, 1965 in Vienna ) is an Austrian musician ( button harmonica , composition ). In 2015 he was nominated for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the Jazz / World / Blues category.
Live and act
Soyka attended school in Vienna and Bremen from 1971 to 1982. During this time he learned the cello and solfeggio . He first worked in the book trade before he became a member of the Extremschrammeln , headed by Roland Neuwirth in 1983 , to which he belonged until 2003. Since 1991 his interest in new improvisation music has intensified . In 1993 he founded the label Non Food Mechanika , for which he also works as a music producer . He also worked with Ernst Molden , Willi Resetarits and Hannes Wirth , with whom two successful albums were created, as well as with Zärtliche Zöllner , the Pischinger family , Herzton.Schrammeln and the Neue Wiener Concert Schrammeln. Between 2002 and 2007 he was a member of the advisory board for social and cultural institutions at Austro Mechanika .
He has regular appearances with Karl Stirner (zither) and Martina Rittmannsberger (violin).
