Walther von Köckritz

Walther von Köckritz († 3 / 4. August 1411 ) was a canon of Magdeburg , Merseburg and Meissen and bishop of Merseburg. He came from the von Köckritz family .

Life

Walther von Köckritz was born as the son of Nikolaus von Köckritz on Saathain .

He had served the Church since 1371. In 1383 he was canon in Magdeburg, and there before 1389 provost of St. Nikolai and 1390 cathedral cantor . 1391 he was the Domkellner the Archbishop the Viztum-office and became provost of the pin Bibra. In 1403 he was senior of the cathedral chapter .

Walther von Köckritz was also canon of Merseburg and Meißen. From December 6, 1406 to March 22, 1407 and from 1407 to 1411, he held the office of Bishop of Merseburg.

After founding the University of Leipzig , he became its first Cancellarius perpetuus ( Chancellor ).

Walther von Köckritz died on August 3 or 4, 1411.
