Waltraud Braun

Waltraud Braun (born November 5, 1918 in Magdeburg , † 1987 ) was a German dermatologist .

Life

Like her husband Harry Braun, Braun worked at the Greifswald University Dermatology Clinic under Wilhelm Richter (1892–1944). In 1949 she moved to the Magdeburg Municipal Dermatology Clinic as a senior physician , which at that time was housed in Lostau and was managed by her husband. In 1966 she completed her habilitation at the University of Leipzig and in 1969, the first woman to take over the chair for dermatology at the University Dermatology Clinic of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg . On May 9, 1970, Waltraud Braun took over the chairmanship of the Society for Medical Mycology of the GDR from her husband , which she held until 1975. She headed the Halle University Skin Clinic until she retired in 1979. Klaus-Dieter Wozniak was his successor. Waltraud Braun died in 1987 at the age of 69.

In 1972 she was awarded the honorary title of Honored Doctor of the People .
