Waltraud Steinhauer

Waltraud Steinhauer (born February 8, 1925 in Velbert ; † March 9, 2002 there ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Steinhauer joined IG Metall in 1946 and worked as a union secretary in the DGB district of Düsseldorf - Mettmann from 1948 onwards . In 1953 she started working as a legal secretary at the DGB North Rhine-Westphalia . In 1965 she was elected chairwoman of the DGB district of Siegen.

Political party

Steinhauer joined the SPD in January 1951 and was a board member of the SPD district of Western Westphalia from 1969 to 1988.

Steinhauer had been a councilor for the city ​​of Siegen since 1965 and was temporarily chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. She was a member of the German Bundestag from December 9, 1974, when she replaced the resigned MP Karl Wienand , until 1990. It was always drawn into parliament via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia. From March 7, 1990 until the end of the electoral term, she was deputy chairman of the sports committee .
