geography
The place is about two kilometers west of Anröchte. The district road 64 leads through the village. Adjacent villages are Mellrich , Anröchte, Robringhausen and Klieve .
history
The first documentary mention of Waltringhausen comes from the year 1270. In 1322, the Meschede Abbey allowed Lucia von Mellrich to build the Annenborn Monastery on the site of today's St. Anna Chapel on her court in Waltringhausen . The ruins of the monastery were still visible in the 19th century.
Waltringhausen was before 1 January 1975, a separate municipality in office Anröchte in county Lippstadt .
With the entry into force of the Münster / Hamm Act , the municipalities of the Anröchte office were merged to form the new municipality of Anröchte and the Lippstadt district with the previous district of Soest to form the new district of Soest .
Buildings
The St. Anna chapel, which was first mentioned in 1647, is one of the listed buildings in the Waltringhausen district.
