The walker W 10 / I 6/30 PS is a passenger car of the middle class , which the Walker-Werke 1926 as a successor to the model W 9 brought out. It differed from its predecessor in that it had four-wheel brakes, left-hand drive (instead of the right-hand drive that was generally used up until then), a separate trunk accessible from the inside, and a performance-enhanced engine.
The vehicle had a 4-cylinder OHV in-line engine with a displacement of 1.55 liters and an output of 30 hp. The power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a 3-speed gearbox with a gear lever in the middle of the car. The cars with U-profile frames had leaf-sprung rigid axles and were available as open touring cars or limousines (inner handlebars). Approximately 6500 units had been produced by 1928.
In 1927 a model with a more powerful engine (1.95 liters, 40 hp) appeared, the Wanderer W 10 / II 8/40 hp . In addition to the touring car and limousine, a convertible was also offered. Car bodies provided glasses and Reutter . Around 1500 cars were built in this version by 1929.
As a result of the global economic crisis , the larger car was difficult to sell. So they returned to the smaller engine. The Wanderer W 10 / IV 6/30 PS was manufactured as a 4-door sedan, convertible and landaulet (as a cab ) with 4 + 2 seats. To save, the voltage in the vehicle electrical system was reduced from 12 volts to 6 volts. Another 4,500 cars were built by 1932.
In 1932 the series was replaced by the W 15 model.
