Wang Wentao

Wang Wentao (Chinese: 王文涛; Pinyin: Wáng Wéntāo; born May 1964 in Nantong , Jiangsu Province ) is a Chinese politician who has been the governor of Heilongjiang Province since March 2018 . He previously served as the secretary of the Communist Party in Shandong Province .

Life

Wang was born in Nantong, Jiangsu Province in 1964. He attended Fudan University in Shanghai and graduated with a degree in philosophy . In December 1994, he joined the Chinese Communist Party. After graduating, he worked as a teacher at the Shanghai University of Applied Sciences for Space Technology (上海 航天 职工 大学). He was also the head of the cell of the Chinese Communist Youth Association there . From September 1994 he was deputy head of the sales point for photocopiers at the university, from May 1997 its director and assistant to the rector of the university. From March 1998 he was deputy rector. In October 1998 he became mayor of the then Wushe Township (五 厍 镇) in the Songjiang District of Shanghai. When this was integrated into the large community of Liugang (泖 港镇) in January 2001, he was installed there as party leader. He then served as the deputy mayor of Songjiang and head of town planning there. He was also responsible for industrial development, technology parks and export growth.

In January 2005, Wang was transferred to Kunming to become party's deputy chief and then mayor. In June 2007 he returned to Shanghai, where he became deputy party leader and later district mayor of Huangpu . On April 23, 2011, he was appointed a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Jiangxi National Association of the CCP and the party leader of the provincial capital, Nanchang .

On March 25, 2015, Wang was appointed a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Shandong National Association and party secretary of Jinan . He replaced Wang Min, who was fired for corruption. In April 2017, Wang was appointed Shandong Party's deputy chief. On March 26, 2018, he was appointed deputy governor of Heilongjiang Province, replacing Lu Hao . On May 15 he was confirmed as governor.

Wang was an alternate member of the 18th and 19th Central Committees of the Chinese Communist Party .
