Ward is a small town in Boulder County in the US state of Colorado with about 170 residents.
The place, founded in 1860 and named after Calvin Ward , was a typical gold rush town, had numerous gold and silver mines and was one of the richest towns in the state. At peak times, 1000 or more people lived in the city. In 1897/98, Ward was connected to the railway network from Boulder (via the so-called Whiplash and Switzerland Trail ). In 1900 there was a major fire that destroyed more than 50 buildings.
