Wargame: European Escalation is a real-time strategy game by Eugen Systems that has been distributed by Focus Home Interactive since February 23, 2012 . It is thematically set in Europe during the Cold War and uses NATO and the Warsaw Pact as parties to the conflict.

description

Wargame has two playable factions, NATO and the Warsaw Pact, each of which is divided into four sub-factions (the USA, Great Britain, France and West Germany on the one hand, the Soviet Union, Poland, the GDR and Czechoslovakia on the other), with a total of 361 historical units from seven troop types to choose from, some of which have to be unlocked or upgraded. A basic building that is present in many other real-time strategy games is not used in Wargame.

The single player campaign consists of 22 missions in four acts, which are set between 1975 and 1985. Various historical events are used as a basis, such as B. the escape of Werner Weinhold or the NATO maneuver Able Archer 83 .

In multiplayer, up to eight players compete against each other in two different game modes. The IRISZOOM engine already used in RUSE is used as the technical basis for Wargame (version 2.0). Eugen System released a total of four free DLCs (New Battlefields, Conquest, Commander, Fatal Error) for European Escalation. The offshoot AirLand Battle was supplemented by the two free DLCs Vox Populi and Magna Carta.

successor

On May 29, 2013 Wargame: AirLand Battle came on the market, which is set in the same scenario in terms of time, but geographically takes place in Scandinavia. On April 17, 2014, the third part of the series, Wargame: Red Dragon, was released .
