Wargasm is an American thrash metal band from Boston , Massachusetts , which was founded in 1982 under the name Overkill, dissolved in 1995 and re-formed in 2004.

history

The band was formed in 1982 under the name Overkill. The band consisted of guitarist Rich Spillberg, drummer Barry Spillberg, bassist Peter Schiffer and guitarist Bob Mayo. In 1985 the band changed their name to Maniac. Mayo switched from guitar to bass and the band only consisted of three members. In 1985 the band released a demo called Rainbows, Kittens, Flowers and Puppies . This was followed by some gigs in New England . In 1986 the band changed their name to Wargasm. The demo called Satan Stole my Lunch Money followed . As a result, the band reached a recording deal and released their debut album called Why Play Around? at Profile Records in 1988.

In 1989 the band held a small tour together with Cro-Mags . In the same year the band recorded the next demo called Your Dogs Teeth . Another demo followed in 1990 called Spirits in Decay . In 1990 the band held a small tour of Europe together with Biohazard . In 1991 the next demo called Gasm It was released. Then the band went on tour through Europe again with Biohazard. The next demo followed in 1992 with Enemy Mine . So, that same year the band signed a contract with Massacre Records and in 1993 released the album Ugly through this label . The album contained songs from previous demos as well as some new tracks. This was followed by a small tour together with Nuclear Assault , as well as an appearance at the Milwaukee Metal Fest , where bands like Slayer and Biohazard could be heard. In 1993 he appeared together with Aggressor , Illdisposed , Atheist and Obituary .

In 1994 the band released the EP called Fireball , which also featured a cover of Deep Purple . There were also some live songs to be heard. After the release, a tour with Tankard will follow . After the tour, the band recorded the next album called Suicide Notes , which was originally What are you Afraid of? should be called. The band separated from their label and released the album on the Dutch label Transmission Records . On February 11 and 12, 1995, the band played their last two appearances at the Rathskeller Rock Club in Boston.

In 2000, Transmission Records released the single Jingle Hell / Little Drummer Boy , which included songs from Suicide Notes and some songs previously only released on the Japanese version of Suicide Notes .

In 2004 the band teamed up for another gig. The concert was released as a live DVD.
