Warren Benbow
Warren Benbow (* 22. December 1954 in New York City ) is an American drummer of the Creative Jazz .
Live and act
Benbow studied drums and percussion with Warren Smith and Morris Goldenburg ( New York Philharmonic ) at the High School of Performing Arts . He continued his studies at Mannes College with Walter Rosenberger and Dong Wong Park. He also received training in the jazz mobile from Freddie Waits and Tootie Heath . On the mediation of Waits he accompanied singer Betty Carter , then he played with Nina Simone and Larry Willis . In 1982 he was a founding member of James Blood Ulmers (bassless) band Odyssey ; he was at the albumsOdyssey , Bloody Guitar , Part Time , Live at the Caravan of Dreams and Reunion this, z. Partly expanded to include other musicians, trios involved.
Benbow has also worked with Jimmy Owens , Eddie Gomez , Olu Dara , Michal Urbaniak and Teruo Nakamura , as well as a theater musician on Broadway . He has also worked for Whitney Houston , Gwen Guthrie , LL Cool J , SWV , and Mary J. Blige .
