Warren Hymer
Warren B. Hymer (born February 25, 1906 in New York , † March 25, 1948 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor .
Life
Warren Hymer was the son of screenwriter John B. Hymer (1875-1933) and actress Eleanor Kent (1880-1957). After graduating from Yale University , he worked as a stage actor on Broadway for a few years before turning to Hollywood cinema with the start of talkies in the late 1920s. In total, Hymer took part in almost 130 films between 1929 and 1946. In his supporting roles, he mainly played policemen, officers or gangsters, who often did not seem particularly intelligent. He also appeared as the main character's sidekick in some of his films . He had better-known appearances in the films No Return , The Great Bluff and Here's John Doe, among others .
Off the screen, Hymer was considered an alcoholic. When Columbia boss Harry Cohn tried to hold Hymer accountable in the late 1930s, Hymer is said to have urinated on Cohn's table. The quality and frequency of his role offers decreased significantly after this incident. Two years after his last film appearance, Hymer died of a stomach ailment at the age of only 42. He was married twice, but both marriages failed.
