Warren Kenneth Wood (born April 27, 1887 in Chicago , Illinois , † October 27, 1926 in Pelham Manor , New York ) was an American golfer .
biography
Warren Wood was born in 1887 to John Wood and Maud M. Wood (nee Heath). He played golf at the Homewood Country Club .
At the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis , he was Olympic champion with the Western Golf Association in team competition . In the singles, however, he was eliminated in the first round against Harry Allen .
In 1906 he won the North and South Amateur and in 1913 the Western Amateur . In 1910 he was second in the US amateur .
During the First World War he was stationed as a soldier in Brest, France . After the end of the war he was ordered to return to the United States. On board the RMS Celtic he set out on January 24, 1919 for New York City , where he arrived on February 3.
