What Google really wants - As the most influential group in the world is changing our future is a 2015 published by German publishing house published nonfiction of the mirror - journalists Thomas Schulz of the consolidated Google .

content

Thomas Schulz, born in 1973, was able to speak to many important Google personalities for the book; he conducted over 100 interviews at the company headquarters.

The author tells the story of the company and portrays its founders, gives an overview of their products and outlines the ideas behind Google.

The founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin , are characterized as very different types. The Californian ideology , which can often be found in Silicon Valley and also on Google , is presented. The philosophy of "10x" is central to Google: Everything that Google tackles has to be 10 times better than what it was before.

Various Google projects are described, such as the Google Laboratory X , Internet with balloons ( Project Loon ), strategies against aging ( Calico ), robotics , flying wind generators (Makani), the development of quantum computers and autonomous driving (see Waymo ).

reception

"Thomas Schulz, as an evidently well-connected Silicon Valley journalist, presents an interesting, if somewhat uncritical, close-up view of possibly the most powerful corporation in the world with his quickly written book."

"(Schulz characterizes) ... in a brisk, easy-to-read style, first of all those responsible for the development and the projects ... (and then) ... the ideas that are mostly judged as ingenious, at least extraordinary, and their operational implementation."
