The Waterloo helmet or Waterloo Bridge helmet is a protective and professional weapon from England.

description

The Waterloo helmet is made of bronze . It was found in the Thames near Battersea Bridge , also called Waterloo Bridge, in 1860 . The helmet bell is shell-shaped, and two horns made of sheet bronze are attached to the helmet. The surface of the helmet bell is decorated with figures and patterns in high relief by bustle and with many decorative rivets . A decoration made of red glass was also attached, but has not been preserved. The helmet was not built for combat operations, but served as a symbol of rank for the tribal chiefs. The horns were a symbol of horned deities . It is quite possible that this type of helmet was made as a dedication to a deity, as it has very large dimensions. The Battersea shield , which also served ritual or religious purposes, was found together with the helmet . The helmet with the inventory number “Pⅇ 1988 10-4 1 “is exhibited in the British Museum in London, where the Meyrick helmet is also located.
