The Weißkehl Frankolin ( Francolinus albogularis ) is a type of species of Frankoline from the family of pheasant-like (Phasianidae).

features

Males and females are very similar. The roosters have a gray forehead with reddish brown spots. The face is predominantly white, only the ear covers are gray, and the plumage under the eyes and on the sides of the neck is dark yellow. The upper side is brown-gray, the wing-coverts are maroon, the feather shafts are creamy white and banded with faint red-yellow. The side feathers on the tail are reddish brown. The chin and throat are completely white, the rest of the underside is ocher yellow. The chest and flanks are decorated with some reddish vertical stripes. The hens only differ in their delicately black and white banded breasts and flanks.

distribution

The white-throated francolin is common in three disjointed areas in Senegal and from Ivory Coast to Cameroon and in Zaire , Zambia and Angola . It lives in open areas such as savannahs , patchy hilly hills and deserted fields.

Way of life

The roosters' voice is very similar to that of the Coquifrankolin , but the calls are made in quicker succession. A clutch consists of 4–7 light brown speckled eggs .
