Weidensee (Mühlhausen)
Weidensee is an estate in the area of the city of Mühlhausen in the Unstrut-Hainich district in Thuringia . In addition to the estate, a few other houses belong to the village of Weidensee.

Weidensee is located near the Thomasquelle and the formerly excavated Thomasteich . Its overflow flows into the Felchtaer Bach , which flows into the Unstrut . The settlement and the estate are located on the county road 206 southwest of Mühlhausen in the hill country of the Thuringian Basin . In the west lies the Hainich with the Mühlhausen city forest .
history
Weidensee was first mentioned in documents in 1206, at that time it belonged to the Lords of Weidensee . The city of Mühlhausen acquired the village site in 1302, which was desolate from the middle of the 15th century . Since then, the place has belonged to the area of the Free and Imperial City of Mühlhausen . In 1802/03 the area became part of Prussia . Between 1807 and 1813, the place belonged to the canton of Dorla in the Kingdom of Westphalia , before it became part of the district of Mühlhausen i. Th. In the Prussian province of Saxony , to which he belonged until 1945.
Today's estate was built around 1700 and was privately owned until 1938 and then acquired by the city. In 1957 a pig fattening system was built on the site for the LPG "Aktivist" Popperode and later the LPG Niederdorla . In 1993 the property was sold to an investor who was planning a horse farm with a country hotel.
