Weiher is a district of the municipality of Viereth-Trunstadt in the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg in Bavaria with around 100 inhabitants.

geography

The village is in a valley, about 2 km southwest of Viereth. The Weiherbach rises near Weiher and flows into the Viehbach just before Viereth . This flows into the Main in Viereth . The St. Dorothea chapel from 1783 is located in the center of the village. The church was renovated in 1870 and 1962/63.

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1523 in a letter from Bishop Weygand of Bamberg . The village is named after a pond . Weiher belonged to the community of Trunstadt until 1949, before it came to Viereth.

brewery

The Kundmüller brewery is located in the village. With an output of more than 20,000 hectoliters per year, it is one of the largest breweries in the Bamberg district and operates a brewery restaurant with a beer garden.
