Hamlet (desert, Sixtenberg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Weiler is a deserted village in the district of hostage Winder hamlet Sixt mountain in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen . The village was probably abandoned in the 16th century. The reasons for this are unclear.

Geographical location

The deserted site can be precisely delimited by field names. The Sixtenberger parcels of Weilerholz, Weileracker and Im alten Weiler are reminiscent of the former settlement. The place was probably about 700 m northeast of Sixtenberg on a plateau. Further to the east was the Seeram settlement, which has also fallen desolate today . Today the border runs there between the communities Geiselwind and Burghaslach in the Central Franconian district of Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim .

history

The place name refers to the former size of the settlement. The Middle High German word wiler means something like single farm or small village. The settlement was first mentioned in the second half of the 15th century. At that time, in 1484, Kunz von Vestenberg , Bamberg's mayor, sold half of his homestead "zu Weyler" to the Lords of Crailsheim . At that time the place probably only consisted of this one courtyard.

In the 15th century, the court had come to the mayor as a fief of the Counts of Castell , who sold it on. This resale can also be seen in the castellers' fief books. From 1486 they gave the estate to "Weiler" to the Crailsheim. The place was probably abandoned in the 16th century. In 1674, only the "Weyler ackher" was recorded in a fief book of the Würzburg monastery . In 1681 the place was described as "before this a courtyard".
