German Association of Scientists

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Science Association (DWV) is an umbrella organization for student corporations . It was merged on May 14, 1910 in Kassel from seven specialist associations with a total of 82 associations. In 2009 the last of its connections ceased active operations.

Development of the German Science Association and its member cartels

On the history of the DWV

In 1910, seven specialized cartels or associations came together to form the DWV: Arnstädter Verband, Eisenacher Kartell, Naumburger Kartellverband, Weimarer Kartellverband, Goslarer Kartellverband, Leipziger Verband and Leuchtenburgbund. The time between the world wars was marked by internal tensions in the question of color and scale . Finally, the wearing of color was exempted and student fencing was discarded. After further mergers of the member cartels and withdrawals, the DWV was formed as a unified association in 1933. In 1935, the DWV had to be dissolved under pressure from Albert Derichsweiler , the then federal leader of the NSDStB .

In 1953 it was decided to re-establish the company in Marburg. The connections were now predominantly oriented towards general science, the specialist cartels were not reconstituted. In 1960 the DWV joined the work and friendship agreement between the Schwarzburgbund (SB) and the Deutsche Burschen-Ring (DBR), which was dissolved six years later . Since 1977, the DWV connections have also accepted female students on their own terms. The association currently only consists of old manors without active students.

The announcements from the German Association of Scientists were published as a gazette.
