Weinbergkirche (Vienna-Döbling)
The Vineyard Church is a parish church of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in the district part Sievering in the 19th Vienna district Döbling , Börnergasse 16th
history
The Döblinger parish emerged from a subsidiary of the Währing parish in the Luther Church . It became independent in 1965 and was initially based in rented rooms on Kreindlgasse. After a cheap plot of land was found in Börnergasse, the community had the Weinbergkirche built between 1980 and 1981 according to plans by the architects Alexander Marchart and Roland Moebius . The name of the church is supposed to establish the connection between the location (a former vineyard) and the biblical parables of vineyard , vine and grapevine .
Building
The Weinbergkirche is a free-standing group building. The floor plan of the main room, which is flanked by ancillary rooms, depicts a Greek cross . Above a high-lying ribbon of windows is a deep coffered wooden flat roof that rests on four wooden pillars and protrudes far. The side rooms are flat-roofed and have glazed outer walls. The altar crucifix is designed in Gothic style. Sliding walls allow a versatile use of the simple church interior for small and large events. The office rooms are also located in the same building and on the same level, with a youth room and a large common room in the basement.
A bronze bell hangs in the free-standing bell tower, which sounds in the tone e ''. It was cast in 1981 by the Grassmayr bell foundry and weighs around 120 kg.
