from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

history

The history of the winery itself does not go far back. As is traditional in the Baden wine-growing region , Bernhard Huber's ancestors delivered their grapes to the cooperative until 1987. Initially, only parts of the vineyards were removed from the cooperative network until the current owners marketed the entire area independently. More areas were added over time, the area under vines doubled from 2000 (13 ha) to 2008.

The history of viticulture in Malterdingen goes back to Cistercian monks who owned land in Malterdingen and ran an estate. The Won in the winery Huber is Mönchhof mats is today.

Locations

The winery cultivates around 26 hectares of vineyards in some very steep vineyards . The locations are characterized by their high proportion of shell limestone weathered soil . These store heat and moisture in summer and offer the vines a privileged climate . The rock also gives off its heat to the vines at night.

Old vines in over 40-year-old grounds in a steep south-west basin give the Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Auxerrois a lot of substance and abundance as well as a rich spectrum of fragrances through targeted use of the terroir and artisanal winemaking skills. After Huber's wines became luscious fruit bombs in the early years, they have been shining since the beginning of the new millennium with their fine-spicy fruit density that make them elegant and complex products.

The vineyard's locations extend from the Hecklinger Schlossberg and Malterdinger Bienenberg to the Bombacher Sommerhalde.

Oenological philosophy

The Bernhard Huber winery mainly produces dry wines with a Francophile character. The musts ferment well and are stored for a long time on the yeast. Traditional must fermentation is mandatory for color and tannin management in red winemaking (see also the article on phenols in wine ). The micro-oxidation for some selected red wines takes place through storage in oak barrels for up to 18 months. Due to the influence of the barrique barrels, the wines develop complex aromas and flavors. Otherwise, the wines are vinified in stainless steel tanks.

The winery also produces sparkling wine from Pinot varieties.
