Winery Dr. Heger

In 1935, the country doctor Max Heger bought fallow parcels on Ihringer Winklerberg and thus laid the foundation stone for the Dr. Heger. His son Wolfgang Heger continued to run the business in the 1960s. Today the company is run in the third generation by the Geisenheim- trained oenologist Joachim Heger together with his wife Silvia.

Joachim Heger has been chairman of the Baden regional association in the Association of German Prädikatsweingüter (VDP) since 2009.

In addition to the vineyards on the Winklerberg, plots on the Achkarrer Schlossberg are now owned by the winery. Both locations, Winklerberg and Schlossberg, are classified by the VDP as “ first locations ”. Both on the Winklerberg and on the Schlossberg, the vines grow on volcanic weathered soils with loess or loess loam overlay.
