Nelles winery

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nelles winery is located in the lower part of the Ahr valley , in Heimersheim . Mainly red wine is grown on the 8.5 hectares (ha) of the estate . The winery is a member of the VDP .

history

The establishment of the winery goes back a long way. In 1479 it can be seen from an interest register that Peter Nelis, the leaseholder of a "wyngartz an der buysch portzen", had to pay an unusually high interest rate to the lord of Landskron Castle . This vineyard on the Landskrone is still owned by the winery today and produces its best wines, the 1997 Pinot Noir -B52- from the Landskrone was awarded in 2000 as the “best German red wine”.

Locations

The winery cultivates around 8.5 hectares of vineyards in the sometimes very steep vineyards of the Ahr . These layers are characterized by their high slate walls and the high proportion of slate in the soil. These store heat in summer and offer the vines a privileged climate . The rock also gives off its heat to the vines at night.

The vineyards stretch from Heimersheim to Ahrweiler :
