Wellington slides
José Wellington Barroso de Araújo Dias (born March 5, 1962 in Oeiras , Piauí ) is a Brazilian politician of the Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT).
Life
Dias initially worked as a banker. His political career began in 1993 as a member of the Teresina City Council . From 1995 he was a member of the legislative assembly of the state of Piauí and moved to the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies in February 1999 .
In 2002 he was elected governor of Piauí for the first time and took office on January 1, 2003. He held the office until April 1, 2010. From 2011 to 2015 he was Federal Senator . In 2014 he was elected governor of Piauí for a second time and took office on January 1, 2015, in the 2018 elections in Brazil Dias was re-elected governor for the 2019-2023 term.
He is married to the MP Rejane Dias .
