World trade / tables and graphs
Here are tables and graphs detailing on world trade represented.
overview
In 2015, according to the World Trade Organization (WTO), goods worth 15.985 billion US dollars were exported worldwide . This corresponds to a decrease of around 13% compared to 2014. This negative development is primarily due to the collapse in raw material prices. Adjusted for price, i.e. in real terms, world trade increased by 2.8% in 2015. The main export countries were the People's Republic of China, the United States (USA), Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and South Korea. The USA was the largest import country, followed by China, Germany, Japan, Great Britain and France.
Between 1986 and 2008, the Federal Republic of Germany was export world champion ten times ; In 2010, however, it fell back to third place among the world's largest exporters of goods for the first time since 1959. Asia has developed the most dynamically in the past few decades, especially China. In 1993, China's share of global aggregate exports was 2.5% (today: 13.8%). For comparison: The export shares of the Netherlands and Canada were 3.8 and 3.9 percent respectively in 1993.
The increasing globalization of the economy can be recognized from the development of the world trade volume. While in the last two decades of the 20th century the export volume increased at about the same rate or only slightly faster than the world economy, at the beginning of the 21st century there was a disproportionate increase in world trade, which was considerably higher than the growth of the global economy. The export of goods increased by an average of 5.5% between 2000 and 2007, while the world economy grew by an average of 3.0% in the same period. This is real growth, i.e. without price increases.
In the course of 2008, the financial crisis , which began as a real estate crisis in the USA in 2007, had an increasing impact on the real economy. Effects could first be seen in the USA, then in Western Europe and Japan, and since autumn 2008 all over the world. As a result, the real growth rates in global exports of goods fell: 6.2% (2007), 2.0% (2008) and −13.2% (2009). Real growth in the world economy also declined: 3.9% (2007), 1.3% (2008) and −2.4% (2009).
In 2010 world trade recovered from its slump during the financial crisis and both nominal and real growth rates shot up. According to the WTO, the real annual growth rates for exports between 1990 and 2014 were 5.1%. During the same period, the cumulative gross domestic product (GDP) rose by 2.7% per year in real terms.
Exports
By country and region
The table shows the largest exporters of goods. For all data, it should be noted that these refer to the nominal prices in US dollars for the respective survey period, i.e. are not adjusted for inflation . The nominal differences between world exports and world imports are due to transport costs. So are exports on FOB basis (free on board) rated the exporting port and imports on CIF basis (cost, insurance, freight) of the destination port.
