Wendel Roskopf

Wendel Roskopf (born February 5, around 1485-1490; † June 25, 1549 in Görlitz ) was council worker in Görlitz and agricultural master builder in Silesia since 1518 . From 1523 to 1548 he was a council member of Görlitz. In 1548 he was deposed by King Ferdinand . The name Roskopf has existed in Görlitz since 1406. In 1327 Heinrich Roskopf was part of the Bautzen council. There are around 100 documents from the brother, parents and ancestors of Wendel Roskopf.

After the town fire in 1525, Wendel Roskopf created the town's first Renaissance building, the Schönhof in Görlitz, in 1526 . After its extensive restoration in 2006, it became the seat of the Silesian Museum in Görlitz . From 1537 to 1539 the town hall stairs were built under his direction. He also created the archive wing of the town hall and was the owner of the Bierhof Rosengasse 4.
