Karin Kiwus (2014)

Karin Kiwus (born November 9, 1942 in Berlin ) is a German poet .

Life

Karin Kiwus studied journalism , German and political science at the Free University of Berlin and obtained a master's degree in 1970 . From 1971 to 1973 she was a research assistant at the Akademie der Künste (Berlin) , from 1973 to 1975 she worked as a lecturer at Suhrkamp Verlag , and from 1975 she headed the literature department of the Berlin Academy of the Arts. In 1978 she was a visiting professor at the University of Texas at Austin , and from 1981 to 1982 she was a lecturer at the Free University of Berlin. In 1986/87 she worked again as a publishing editor in Hamburg before returning to the Academy of Arts in Berlin in 1987, where she lives today.

For her lyrical work Karin Kiwus received the literary advancement award of the city of Bremen and a guest grant from the city of Graz in 1977 and in 1981 the advancement award of the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft im BdI . On January 12, 2005, she was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon. In 2014 she received the Wiesbaden Poetry Prize Orphil for The Face of the World .
