The Wendelinus Chapel of Stangenroth

The Wendelinus Chapel is located on Schulzengrund in the northwest of Stangenroth , a district of the Lower Franconian market Burkardroth in the Bavarian district of Bad Kissingen .

The chapel is dedicated to Saint Wendelin .

history

The first chapel at the location of today's Wendelinus Chapel at a crossroads between Stangenroth and Premich was built in the 17th century. Due to the dilapidation of the first chapel, Johann Michael Hartmann (1880–1962) and Josef Andreas Kirchner built a new building with a few helpers in 1927. The Wendelinus Chapel, also known as the "Platten-Heiligen-Häusle", received its present form through renovation work from 1974 to 1977. Theodor Hartmann (1907–1998), his son Werner (1933–2019) and his grandsons carried out the renovation work. The chapel has been preserved by the Hartmann family to this day.

description

The footprint of today's chapel is 24 square meters, which is around four times the size of the first building.

Inside the chapel above the altar houses a representation of Saint Wendelin . The two wall paintings show St. Isidore of Madrid and St. Notburga of Rattenberg .
