history

Wendelinus Chapel (2014)

The Wendelinus Chapel was built in 1965 under the guidance of the forest window maker Adolf Schlereth by local residents and replaced an old Kreuzweg chapel located further down in the village, on the cross, which was demolished due to its dilapidation. The Stations of the Cross, which are located around the Wendelinus Chapel , come from this Chapel of the Cross, which was built in 1904 .

The Way of the Cross , donated by the Schlereth family in 1904 and possibly created by the Bad Kissingen sculptor Valentin Weidner , is now privately owned. After some damaged stations were stored in the school and have since disappeared, the Way of the Cross now consists of only six stations.

There are also five-wound wards at the chapel.

Today's chapel, donated by Franz Kübert, his wife and Maria Schlereth, was blessed by local pastor Hornung in 1965. In this context, Pastor Hornung also blessed the restored cross; A copper scroll was also placed in the altar stone as a time capsule , reminding of the builder Adolf Schlereth and his family. At the time of the inauguration of the chapel, a war memorial was planned at the location of the chapel.

Inside, the chapel houses the recently restored statues of St. Michael , St. Joseph , St. Antonius , the l. Wendelin , St. Notburga and St. Agnes ; some of these sculptures were taken from the Chapel of the Cross . The Pietà on the altar of the Wendelinus Chapel, in turn, comes from the Waldfenster parish church of the Assumption of Mary .

According to the inscription, the cross in front of the chapel was donated in 1905 and renovated in 2010. The body comes from the crucifix of the old Kreuzweg chapel , was removed in 1964 and attached to today's crucifix in the Wendelinus chapel in 1965 .

A monument in front of the chapel contains a representation of St. Wendelinus. The memorial for the victims of the First World War , which belongs to the chapel , was erected by the war club, as the inscription on the base indicates. The fountain belonging to the facility dates from 1995.

Every year on October 21, the day of St. Wendelinus, devotions take place in the chapel.
