history
Wenecja Castle was built by Mikołaj Nałęcz (around 1330–1400) in the second half of the 14th century as part of the border security of the empire of the last Polish Piast king, Casimir the Great . It was damaged in disputes and partially demolished by the 16th century. In the following centuries, the castle continued to deteriorate, until further parts were blown up in the 19th century and used as building material for the construction of the road to Żnin. Since then the castle has been in ruins. It was Mikołaj Nałęcz who gave the place Mościska the name Wenecja , as he got to know Venice during his studies.
Through the first partition of Poland , Żnin and Wenecja came to Prussia from 1772 to 1919 , only interrupted by the time of the Duchy of Warsaw (1807–1815). In the Prussian office of Znin , Venetia was initially considered a Vorwerk .
From 1975 to 1998 the village belonged to the Bydgoszcz Voivodeship .
