The work of Saint Theresa ( English Work of Saint Teresia; Spanish Obra de Santa Teresa ) is an association of believers for women in the Roman Catholic Church . It was founded in Spain in 1938 and received papal recognition in 1996. In total, the small community has about 62 members spread across 6 countries in Europe and South America .

The priest José Soto Chuliá (1887–1975) founded the work of St. Theresa in 1938 in Málaga (Spain). His concern for the priests and the idea of ​​having lay women as helpers for the priests prompted him to start this work. The women take care of the pastor's household. Don Chuliá won over women who wanted to take on this task out of vocation . In 1960, the spiritual community of Archbishop Marcelino Olaechea Loizaga SDB in the diocese of Valencia was recognized by canon law as Pia unio . On February 2, 1996, the work of Saint Theresa was recognized by the Pontifical Council for the Laity as an international association of believers under papal law.

The association includes women who want to give their lives to the priests. The women mainly live in the rectory , in the houses for priests and in seminaries . Membership is divided into temporary members who have made a promise and full members who are forever committed to the work. The management of the plant is based in Valencia and consists of the director, the deputy director, the secretary, the treasurer and some appointed assessors. The work of St. Theresa has 62 members who work in Europe and five countries in South America.
