(13214) Chirikov is an asteroid of the main belt , which on May 3, 1997 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.

The asteroid was named on March 30, 2010 after the Russian seaman and Siberia explorer Alexei Ilyich Tschirikow (1703-1748) who discovered the coast of Alaska and parts of the Aleutian Islands in 1746 during the Second Kamchatka Expedition under the leadership of Vitus Bering a map for Russian discoveries in the Pacific.
