Workshop Council

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A workshop council represents the interests of disabled people who are employed in the work area of recognized workshops for disabled people (WfbM).

As of January 1, 2018, a total of 294,243 disabled people within the meaning of Section 221 SGB IX were employed in one of the 736 WfbMs in the Federal Republic of Germany , including 264,895 in the work area.

Colloquially, the individual member of this body is also referred to as the workshop council.

Legal basis

The legal basis is the Workshop Participation Ordinance , which regulates the establishment, composition, tasks and election of the workshop council.

There are separate regulations for institutions of religious communities: the Diakonie participation regulation and the Caritas participation regulation. These must at least meet the requirements of the state regulations.

The workshop council is elected every four years by the disabled people in the working area of the workshop. The workshop councils form state working groups in the federal states, which have come together at the federal level to form the Werkstatträte Deutschland eV association.

State working groups

There are state working groups (LAG) of workshop councils (WR) in all 16 federal states.
