Working days
The Werktuigendagen ( nld. Completely I nternational W erktuigen d agen voor Land- en Tuinbouw , abbreviated IWD to German International Tool and Equipment Conference for the country - and horticulture ) are agricultural engineering trade fairs , which since 1954 regularly in Flanders , Belgium take place. The multi-day events are held outdoors every two years, usually on a weekend in September. The organizer is the Ghent- based association Werktuigendagen vzw .
Since the end of the 20th century, over 100 hectares of arable land in the Heurne district of the town of Oudenaarde in the Belgian province of East Flanders have served as the event site . In addition to nationally and internationally known agricultural technology and seed companies, agricultural associations and institutions as well as stable fitters are represented as exhibitors. Belgian and Dutch companies in particular use the working days to present new products. 193 exhibitors and around 82,000 visitors were recorded at the 29th working days in 2009.
Compared to other agricultural exhibitions that take place in exhibition halls such as Agritechnica or SIMA , the proportion of practical demonstrations during the working days is very high. They are thus similar to the German DLG field days , which also take place outdoors , which are also of national, in some cases European or international significance in terms of exhibitor presence and audience. During the working days there is also a program and exhibition area for historical agricultural machinery, which is mainly used by old-timer tractor associations and not only attracts a specialist audience.
As the second major agricultural fair in Flanders , the Agriflanders takes place every two years at the Ghent Flanders Expo in January .
