geography

Wernborn is located in the eastern Hintertaunus, surrounded by forest and nature near the Eichkopf. The village is located in the Taunus Nature Park at an average altitude of 278 meters. Due to its central and quiet location, embedded in a valley, Wernborn is a popular place to live, with numerous new building areas.

history

Church (built 1896–1897)

Wernborn is mentioned for the first time in 1191 in a document from the Archbishop of Mainz as " Berenbrunnen ". However, this place was later abandoned. The field name "Im Alten Wernborn" refers to the desert. In 1354 it was mentioned again in a document.

In 1525 the village asked for its own church. This wish was only fulfilled in 1596 with the construction of the church. In 1892 the community decided to tear down the old church in order to replace it with a larger new building. The new church building was built from 1896 to 1897 according to a design by Friedrich Adler , with parts of the interior of the old church still being used.

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the municipality of Wernborn was incorporated into Usingen on December 31, 1971 on a voluntary basis.
