Werner Alfred Pietschker

Werner Alfred Pietschker (born January 14, 1887 in Bornstedt ; † November 15, 1911 in Johannisthal ) was a German aviation pioneer.

Life

He was the son of pastor Carl Pietschker and his wife Käthe Pietschker (1861–1949). At the same time he was a grandson of Werner von Siemens . Pietschker studied aeronautical engineering at the Technical University of Charlottenburg .

As a student he already acquired a flight license, his pilot's license had the number 116. In the competition in the Johannisthaler Herbstflugwoche 1911 he took first place. He began designing and building a monoplane as early as 1910 . During its testing the following year, it had a fatal accident on November 15, 1911.

Honor posthumously

In his memory, the family donated the Werner-Alfred-Bad to the city of Potsdam . In Berlin-Johannisthal and Potsdam-Stern , Pietschkerstraßen were named after the pioneer.
