Werner Anton Adolf Freiherr von Plettenberg (born February 20, 1688 ; † June 1711 in Vienna ) was canon in Münster .

Life

Werner Anton Adolf von Plettenberg grew up as the son of Johann Adolph von Plettenberg (1655–1696) and his wife Franziska Theresa von Wolff-Metternich zur Gracht (1667–1722) in one of the oldest and most important noble families in Westphalia .

Werner Anton received in 1701 by the Turnar in Münster a Dompräbende . On August 8, 1706 renounced it because he heir of his uncle, Prince Bishop Friedrich Christian was. During his tenure , he had acquired a considerable fortune, including Nordkirchen Castle . His uncle Ferdinand was his guardian in the matter of inheritance. A study trip between 1702 and 1708 took Werner Anton to the cities of Mainz, Erfurt and Gießen. In 1709 he went on a two-year country trip to get to know the Netherlands, France, Italy and Austria. During this trip he died of a lung disease in Vienna at the age of 23. His younger brother Ferdinand , who later became Prime Minister, became heir to the extensive estates.
