In the 2017/18 season, Skårset initially took part primarily in competitions of the national Norges Cup . At the end of January 2020, Skårset won its first race in the Continental Cup in Rena . After further strong results, he recommended himself for the World Cup team, to which he was appointed via the national group in Trondheim at the end of February 2020 . Even at the highest level, Skårset was in good shape and kept his squad place in the following weeks. After he was already in the top 20 in Trondheim, he achieved his best World Cup result to date with thirteenth place at the end of the season in Oslo . In the overall World Cup, he finished 33rd.
