Lars Ivar Skårset (born January 5, 1998 in Lillehammer ) is a Norwegian Nordic combined skier .

Career

Skårset, who competes for Søre ÅL IL , made his international debut at the 2015 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Tschagguns , where he finished ninth in an individual competition using the Gundersen method . Around a year later he took part in the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2016 in Râșnov , Romania . There he took 30th place in the sprint and twelfth place in the individual over 10 km. In the team competition he reached fifth place together with Petter Løset Skodjereite , Leif Torbjørn Næsvold and Einar Lurås Oftebro .

On his Continental Cup debut in Høydalsmo in January 2017, Skårset won his first Continental Cup points by reaching eleventh place. At the 2017 Junior World Ski Championships in Soldier Hollow , USA , he achieved eighth place in the sprint.

In the 2017/18 season, Skårset initially took part primarily in competitions of the national Norges Cup . In January 2018 he started for the first time this winter in the Continental Cup , in whose competitions he now regularly competed. On January 26, 2019, Skårset reached the podium for the first time in Planica and only had to admit defeat to his compatriot Leif Torbjørn Næsvold. A few days later he was therefore nominated for the national squad, so that he made his debut in the World Cup in Klingenthal and placed 22nd straight away in the points. Nevertheless, after the weekend he was relegated to the second-class Continental Cup, where he took eighth place in the overall standings after further good results.

At the end of January 2020, Skårset won its first race in the Continental Cup in Rena . After further strong results, he recommended himself for the World Cup team, to which he was appointed via the national group in Trondheim at the end of February 2020 . Even at the highest level, Skårset was in good shape and kept his squad place in the following weeks. After he was already in the top 20 in Trondheim, he achieved his best World Cup result to date with thirteenth place at the end of the season in Oslo . In the overall World Cup, he finished 33rd.
